Strengthening research, technological development and innovation
Promoting innovation capacities for a more competitive area
The main common objective was the development, introduction, and dissemination of innovative marketing tools with on-line support on the Mikrobiz platform, in order to increase the innovation level of start-ups and SMEs in an international and multicultural environment, as well as the development of marketing skills, cross-border cooperation, and networking among the main actors in the field of innovation, in order to achieve global competitiveness.
NUVOLAK2 has represented an upgrade to the already successful NUVOLAK project, or rather the online Mikrobiz.net platform with new verified and implemented marketing tools for support in planning marketing activities and in introducing good practices, benchmarking tools, and more up-to-date information for the management of companies on both sides of the border, complete with a support network of tutors and institutions, as well as with the integration of new communication channels. With the innovations provided, the project has addressed the territorial challenges of the low level of research, innovation and development in many (rural) areas, and the consequent insufficient transfer of knowledge and innovation and the concentration of services and activities within the main urban areas, or rather the insufficient transfer of knowledge from research to practice. The approach is based on the multi-year experience using the bilingual Mikrobiz portal, the knowledge of the needs of the target user groups, the integration of specificities within the economic activities and the cross-border area, and the partnership, which will also use the results within the scope of its core activities, thus ensuring the sustainability of the results and their further development. The main direct effects for researchers, SMEs, start-ups, students, and the general public were the following: longer lasting cooperation among companies and universities, new cross-border research projects, and a new package of tools for businesses within the context of the Mikrobiz platform. The main objective was the development, introduction, and dissemination of new tools on the updated Mikrobiz platform, as well as the provision of the relative online support, which led to an increase in the innovativeness of start-ups and SMEs within an international and multicultural environment, and the development of cross-border cooperation, synergies, and networking among key players in order to achieve global competitiveness.
1) the updating and upgrading of the Mikrobiz platform (developed within the context of the NUVOLAK project) using an IT tool designed to provide support in planning and introducing marketing activities, additional material, good practices, up-to-date information on the creation and management of businesses on both sides of the border, and a network of tutors and supporting institutions on both sides of the border. The results of the project increased the level of cross-border cooperation among the program area’s main actors, thanks to: the introduction of good practices; exchanges of researchers, businessmen and experts, and their inclusion within the educational processes of the participating academic institutions; new cooperation agreements between cross-border actors operating within the context of innovation / academia / SMEs; joint projects for students from both sides of the border within the program area; networking and connections between tutors, researchers, students and institutions through in-person meetings and the online Mikrobiz platform; competitions for the most innovative projects / ideas / marketing tools on both sides of the border; the annual organisation of the cross-border Innovation Festival; meetings between SMEs, entrepreneurs, students, researchers and support institutions from both sides of the border. 2) a series of innovative marketing practices adopted by SMEs in the cross-border area, the exchange of identified good practices, the identification of key samples, and the creation of new tools and update of the existing ones implemented and promoted through pilot implementations, workshops, consultations, meetings, seminars, joint student projects, competitions, exchanges of researchers and experts, and the organisation of innovation festivals.

CURRENT SITUATION OF THE DESIGN IMPLEMENTATION
After almost 3 years, exactly 33 months, the project Nuvolak2 is going to finish. It was an amazing journey, in which we all learnt a lot.
