1ST CONSULTATION ABOUT VITICULTURE AND WINEMAKING IN KARST – AGROTUR II

Events

Viticulture and winemaking are facing new challenges. In Karst they face the problem of abandonment and deforestation of vineyards, as well as a large deviation in the production of Teran by different growers. The purpose of the consultation is to create conditions (with local communities, researchers and the state) to attract young people in wine production.

The event, which took place in Sežana on 6 February 2019, was attended by Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Aleksandra Pivec, PhD and State Secretary Tanja Strniša, MSc. The Minister emphasized the importance of Teran at the national and international level and emphasized that the European Agricultural Policy for the wine and wine sector was renewed in 2008 and that the activities are carried out in accordance with the guidelines. At the conference, the speakers focused on the economics of production of grapes and wine in the Karst region and in the marketing view of the karst viticulture. The event ended with a roundtable discussion, which included, among others, project partners and associated partners of AGROTUR II: Klemen Lisjak (Project Manager), PhD and Barbara Zagorc of the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia, Erik Modic, MSc., Mayor of Komen Municipality and Marjan Colja, President of the Teran Growers Association from Karst region.
