Project event – MEDS GARDEN: Opening ceremony "Orto del Brenta" garden, 23.6.2018

The educational garden "Orto del Brenta" of the Giuseppe Olivotti Cooperativa Sociale was opened on Saturday 23 June at 12.30 in Mira (VE), Via Nazionale 57.

The realization of the garden is part of the project “MEDS GARDEN: Indigenous Mediterranean garden and culinary arts for the preservation of the typical regional identity" financed by the INTERREG VA Italia-Slovenia 2014-2020 program with the aim of protecting and enhancing the natural and cultural heritage.

The didactic garden, in the place of the Giuseppe Olivotti Social Cooperative, along the Brenta Riviera, has been planned and realized with the intent of paths of experiential routes that take into account not only the multiplicity of wild herbs and indigenous varieties but also the uses of the Venetian culinary tradition.

It has a structure similar to the ortus conclusus of medieval monasteries for the cultivation of plants and food and plant products from 4 distinct areas: native vegetables, a field of rural and lagoon herbs, fruit trees and spontaneous herbs and a recreational, social and learning space. L'Orto del Brenta is not only a green area but an educational place opened to students, local communities, lovers of culture, nature and culinary traditions, travellers and tourists, moreover a place to meet the hosts of the Therapeutic Community and Migrant shelter.
