Students visiting University of Nova Gorica - NANOREGION

Events

In the frame of the NANO-REGION project, funded by the Interreg V-A Italia-Slovenia 2014-2020 program, a visit was organised for the high school students in the premises of University of Nova Gorica, as one of the project partners. On Thursday, the 3rd of March 2022, 34 students with professors from Veno Pilon high school, Ajdovščina, came to visit the labs of University of Nova Gorica in Ajdovščina. The event (organised within the activity titled “Door-to-door for Nanotechnology”, led by Università Ca' Foscari Venezia - Dipartimento di Management) was designed and carried out by dr. Andraž Mavrič and several other staff of University of Nova Gorica.

The students were divided into 4 groups and were at the beginning given presentations about Scanning Electron Microscopy and Microanalysis – a fundamental technique in nanotechnology – and about sensor technology, which is currently studied at UNG. Later on, demonstrations of different microscopy technologies, material synthesis pathways and nanomaterials advantages were offered to each student group within the labs. It has been an appreciated occasion for the students and the professors to touch state-of-the-art technologies which are present in their own area.
