The kick off meeting of the standard project HARMO-DATA "Harmonization of data for cross-border territory management", organized by the Lead partner - the Geodetic Institute of Slovenia, was held on November 16th 2017 in Ljubljana. This project aims at improving the coherence of spatial data and the territory management system of the cross-border area between Italy and Slovenia. This 18-month Interreg project, part-funded by the Interreg V-A Italy-Slovenia 2014-2020 Programme, aims also at strengthening cross-border institutional cooperation between public institutions and key actors in spatial planning. To this end, a joint land management model will be created, including a freely accessible common platform for the harmonization of cross-border spatial data in the infrastructure sector, administrative units, territorial plans, cadaster and toponyms. A protocol for the management of the cross-border territory will also be signed by representatives of the competent public institutions in the territory of Slovenia, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto regions. In the second phase of the project a training program will be implemented for stakeholders in the area management sector.
The final objective of HARMO-DATA project is to initiate a coordinated and quality cross-border management and territorial planning. To ensure the effective transfer of the model, the platform will also be used in some pilot municipalities in the cross-border area.
Many representatives from the universities, public institutions and private companies of the two countries attended the meeting.
