IExploring opportunities for fisheries, aquaculture and agriculture through cross-borde cooperation - FISH-AGRO TECH CBC

Events

On Friday, 14. 9. 2018, a workshop was organized as part of the cross-border project Fish-Agro Tech CBC at the premises Marine Biological Station in Piran as part of of the National Institute of Biology, attended by fishermen and everyone else interested in the aquaculture area.

The aim of the project is to strengthen cooperation along the Slovenian-Italian border in the fields of fisheries, aquaculture and agriculture, while identifying opportunities for possible technological solutions through an open innovation approach and a so-called CLLD (community-led local development).

The project is running from 1.7.2017 and will be implemented by 31.12.2018 under the CROSS-BORDER EU programme Interreg Italia-Slovenia, which is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. The project's lead partner is Aries from Trieste, while the other two project partners on the Italian side are Area Science Park and GAL Carso – LAS Kras. Slovenian project partners are the Ljubljana Technology Park, the Primorska Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the National Institute of Biology. The LAS Istra is participating in the project as an associate partner.

The companies involved will have the full support of partners and experts, from the outset in identifying the needs for innovation as well as later in the implementation of the relevant solutions. In this way, the foundations for finding common proposals and innovative solutions will be transferred to companies active in the fields of fisheries, aquaculture and agriculture. In addition, cross-border cooperation will be promoted.

The project is currently carrying out a phase of exploring the needs for technological and process innovations of companies in the fields of fisheries, aquaculture and agriculture in Italy and Slovenia. Activities  of mapping opportunities offered by innovation and to evaluate the possibilities of their implementation on already known needs of companies have already started. These activities aim to develop a cross-border intervention plan for innovation needs, to offer a platform for planning further stages of development. The companies participating in the project therefore have all the necessary support from competent experts. The added value for the cross-border area is also the planned further development of joint cross-border activities and pilot projects.
