C3B - BIOBANKS FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH: THE UDINESE POLE, THE EXPERIENCES IN FRIULI AND THE EUROPEAN SUCCESSFUL MODELS

Events

Intended for the organized collection, conservation and management of biological material (and related clinical data), biobanks are today essential tools to effectively support scientific research and contribute to progress. Hence the need to make these service units increasingly organized, according to precise procedures and rigorous quality criteria, to facilitate the activity of researchers while guaranteeing maximum respect for the rights of the people involved. The ambitious Biobank project is taking shape at the Udine scientific center under the aegis of the University of Udine, the Friuli Centrale University Health Authority and the Aviano Oncological Reference Center. The event on the agenda for Tuesday 20 September has actually outlined its contours, also telling the successful models already consolidated in Friuli and in Europe. Among the most significant experiences proposed, the C3B Project (www.ita-slo.eu/c3b) financed by the Interreg V-A Italy-Slovenia Program, with the Italian Liver Foundation Onlus as Lead Partner, is set up for the creation of a cross-border Biobank. The conference, open to the public, has taken place in the seminar hall of Father Kolbe, has been opportunity for in-depth study and discussion on a broad spectrum of topical issues increasingly oriented towards "precision medicine".
