A comparison of 18 projects being implemented on sustainable development, green and digital transition financed by European funds, with the aim of laying the foundations for the establishment of a transnational Blue Growth Community.
The online event was organised on 12 May 2022 by BLUEAIR, a project financed by the Interreg ADRION 2021-2027 Programme that has Area Science Park as the lead partner and involves 31 partners from the Adriatic-Ionian countries with the aim of promoting a common strategy of smart specialisation focused on Blue Growth in this area.
The Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea, InCE - Central European Initiative, Maritime Technology Cluster FVG and OGS - National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics presented their projects, while the Central Directorate for Labour, Training, Education and Family of the FVG Region concluded the event with a presentation focused on the Intelligent and Sustainable Specialisation Strategy of Friuli Venezia Giulia with a special focus on Blue Growth.
The cross-fertilization workshop identified the most important challenges for sustainable blue growth represented mainly by the high costs associated with the necessary technological development and the resistance to change in the sector's practices/procedures.
Given the similar objective - environmental sustainability and energy efficiency of ports - the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea, Lead Partner of CLEAN BERTH, presented the main contents of the project and preliminary outputs, resulting in a fruitful exchange of experiences and interconnection between EU-funded projects.
