Second partnership meeting for WASTE DESIGN project in Izola (4 March 2022)

The partners involved in the Waste design project (Municipality of Postojna as lead partner, Komunala Izola, IUAV, Isontina Ambiente) met in Izola at another partners meeting, where we exchange information on the project activities carried out and planned. The meeting confirmed the usefulness of project activities aimed at using innovative green technologies for municipal waste collection and promoting recycling.

The host of this meeting was Komunala Izola, and its director Denis White addressed the gathering: "I am delighted to be a member of this project and partnership. We like the project because it confirms exactly what is part of our company's mission. The activities we carry out and develop within the project were in our plans, so we are pleased to see the opportunity to achieve this together within the project, with grants and the experience of others. Project synergy is an important added value and also an opportunity. I believe that we will learn a lot from this project and also offer important information, knowledge and show good practice to other partners for successful further development activities in the field of waste management."

The partnership meeting was an opportunity to see good practices (Centre of applied objects and the underground ecological island in Izola) and discussion on project activities and content. Among other things, the meeting highlighted:

• Information about project activities (reporting, communication activities)

• Transformation of construction waste into new building materials and products

• Initiative to identify/locate processing plants, recycling materials

• Presentation of investments and a example of good practice

• intention to set up a collection and re-use centre

• Development of smart bins for multi-apartment buildings (tracking of bin emptying)

• The problem of restrictive legislation in this area
