On April 13th, the conference will be held that ratifies the conclusion of the SECAP project - "Support for energy policies and climate adaptation" of the Italy Slovenia 2014 - 2020 program, led by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia with the participation of nine other partners : University of Trieste (I), Scientific and Technological Research Area of Trieste (I), Metropolitan City of Venice (I), IUAV University of Venice (I), Unioncamere del Veneto (I), Energy Agency of New Gorica (GOLEA - SLO), Energy Agency of Gorenjska (LEAG - SLO), Regional Development Agency (LUR - SLO), Municipality of Pivka (SLO).
Fabio Scocimarro, Regional Councilor for the Environment, Energy and Sustainable Development - Friuli Venezia Giulia Autonomous Region will open the meeting; Martina GraČner of the Ministry of Infrastructures of the Republic of Slovenia, Directorate of Energy and Giampaolo Bottaccin, Regional Councilor for the Environment - Climate - Civil protection - Hydrogeological instability - Veneto Region.
The conclusion of the project does not mean the end of the activities promoted with it, which will continue driven by the results achieved both in terms of knowledge, experience, motivations and useful tools to fight the impacts of new climate changes. The SECAP project represents a remarkable example of a cross-border public initiative for the promotion of low carbon strategies extended to the neighboring territories of Italy and Slovenia through the study and experimentation of relevant adaptation and mitigation measures to climate change.
The project taught us, that objectives to fight climate change can and must be implemented with a strategic transnational approach, designed to develop coherent mitigation and adaptation measures between the different sectors and levels of local, regional, national and supranational governance. Themes that will be explored in the conference by the IUAV, the Trieste Research Area and the representative of the transalpine macro-region EUSALP Santa Ulrich.
It should be emphasized that in this context the local administrations of the Municipalities play a fundamental role and are responsible for the development and promotion of adaptation and mitigation strategies for phenomena relating to climate change, linked together by complicated and often difficult to predict interdependent relationships. The municipalities involved in SECAP activities were many and among these we remember for their operational contribution the municipalities of Duino Aurisina, Trieste, Sacile, Idrija, Koper, Ajdovščina, Nova Gorica, Brezovica and Pivka. This important activity in the field will be presented in the conference by Rajko Leban, of GOLEA, which will be followed by testimonies from two municipalities of Trieste and Nova Gorica. The demonstration investments implemented during the project regarding the construction of a green roof on the "Krpanov Dom" in Municipality of Pivka Slovenia and the construction and plant engineering interventions for the mitigation and adaptation to climate change carried out at the "Energy House" will also be presented. in the municipality of Mirano in Veneto. In addition to the Autonomous Region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, the Veneto Region and the Ministry of Energy and the Environment of Slovenia will also attend the event. The conference will also be an opportunity to present some previews of the new Interreg Italia Slovenia Program from the hands-on voice of the Program Management Authority.
