Project event – MEDS GARDEN: Opening ceremony "Friul" garden 19.10.2018

The Friul educational garden of the Fondazione Opera Sacra Famiglia was opened on Friday October 19th in Pordenone, Viale del La Comina 25.

The realization of the garden is part of the INTERREG project "MEDS GARDEN": indigenous Mediterranean garden and culinary art for the preservation of the typical regional identity "financed by the INTERREG Italia-Slovenia 2014-2020 program.

The project aims to create 5 Mediterranean gardens, preserving and promoting the biodiversity of the natural heritage and in particular of the indigenous herbs and plants through the creation of gardens, the enhancement of a regional gastronomic offer, awareness raising, training and experimentation of opportunities for integration between educational proposals and tourist offer mainly intended as experiential tourism.

The didactic garden, created within the large green area of the Fondazione Opera Sacra Famiglia, close to the Magredi area, embraced between the Friulian Dolomites and the Adriatic Sea, was designed and built with the aim of offering experiences that take into account, not only the multiplicity of native plants, especially Friuli Venezia Giulia, but also the uses of the same in the Friulian culinary tradition.
