The drafting of the Green Infrastructure Plan in Friuli Venezia Giulia for the Isonzo river and the Vipacco torrent continues. The coordination meeting between the water resources management service of the FVG Region and the experts of the University of Udine was held on Tuesday 7 April by videoconference to take stock of the situation on the progress of the work.
Theme of the day: connectivity!
The plan in fact aims to create operational proposals for the protection of natural areas (woods, riparian areas, ...) or existing semi-natural areas (lawns, hedges, urban parks, gardens, low-impact agricultural areas, ...) and for improving the link between them in order to increase biodiversity and the availability of ecosystem services.
The approach used starts from the identification of habitats and target species on two different levels of analysis scale. The areas with the greatest vocation (nodes and corridors) are defined through a GIS model, which will be the areas to be taken into greater consideration in the design of green infrastructures.
