LIVELY SUMMER IN IN THE PIVKA REGION (MerlinCV)

News

In this summer season, the Municipality of Pivka carried out numerous project activities as part of the cross-border strategic project MerlinCV, under the Interreg Italy-Slovenia programme. Within the part dedicated to visualisation, a short educational film on Šilentabor was filmed over a period of several days, showing the history and development of this castle that reached its peak at the time of Turkish raids when it boasted the largest fortified system in Slovenia. The film will be presented to the public in September and will be included in an exhibition on the Ravne manor later on. The archaeologist curator at National Museum of Slovenia Boštjan Laharnar, who is one of our best experts on Iron Age hillforts, also participated in the making of this film.

Within the activity 3.2., “Storytelling in tourism”, the Municipality of Pivka prepared a new tourism product in July, following the trend of gamification in tourism - an attractive escape game involving adventurous tasks to entertain the users but also to promote visibility of historical, cultural and natural features of the local and wider area. The protagonist of this game played in the area of the Park of Military history, is Knight Bernardin Raunach, one of the first and most important owners of the Ravne manor. The game is an innovative and copyright concept of Enigmarium, combining elements of escape room, treasure hunt and storytelling with the support of digital maps, AR puzzles and AR face filters.

Besides the activities mentioned above and some minor projects, the Municipality of Pivka rounded up a busy summer season with a Medieval Day at the Park of Military History on Sunday, 29 August. The rich programme included presentations of medieval history groups and their camps, dance shows, sword fighting and catapult firing, pony rides for kids and a market with local produce and products.
