ŠEMPETER - VRTOJBA, 07.11.2019. The recreation area realized by the EGTC GO in the framework of the Isonzo-Soča project, funded by the Interreg V-A Program Italy-Slovenia 2014-2020, was inaugurated today in Vrtojba. The recreational area, which in total has an area of approximately 1255 square meters, includes a parking space for campers, with all the services for parking (columns for the supply of electricity, water and drainage). There are 8 parking spaces for motorhome parking, while 18 parking spaces are available for motorists who want to use the adjacent cycle paths. The recreational area is also equipped with benches and picnic tables.
This is the conclusion of the first of the four project lots, which involves the construction, in the territories of Gorizia, Nova Gorica and Šempeter-Vrtojba, of a cross-border network of cycle and pedestrian paths along the Isonzo river and along the state border that connects Salcano in Šempeter and Vrtojba. To carry out the work, the EGTC GO published a call for tenders in Slovenia applying the Slovenian legislation, something that had never happened before for a subject under Italian public law. The works, for an amount of 390,000 euros + VAT, were carried out by Erik Sever s. p. in partnership with Zoran Batistič s.p.
The recreation area was inaugurated in the presence of EGTC GO president Matej Arčon, Mayor of Šempeter-Vrtojba Milan Turk, Mayor of Gorizia Rodolfo Ziberna and vice-mayor of Nova Gorica Simon Rosič.
