From 2 to 6 September 2020 Trieste will host the ninth edition of the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF), a biennial pan-European conference dedicated to scientific research and innovation.

The Interreg V-A Italy-Slovenia programme will also be present, together with its co-financed projects, to promote the results of territorial cooperation on local sustainability and innovation, with social and economic outcomes. In particular, the results of the cooperation for the implementation of low carbon strategies and action plans will be illustrated.

The LIGHTING SOLUTIONS project, whose main objective is to improve the efficiency and energy management of public lighting in the Programme area for the benefit of all Europe, will illustrate the results achieved so far, and those expected, through engaging multimedia installations.

The CLEAN BERTH project will present on September 2nd the strategy for the sustainability of the Port of Trieste in the physical session "Technologies and finance for sustainability". The project, which aims at a better environmental sustainability and port energy efficiency through cross-border institutional cooperation, will also be present in the virtual stand of the Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Finally, it is worth mentioning the patronage granted by proESOF (ESOF2020 promotion initiative) to the BLUEGRASS project, whose results of the introduction and development of aquaponics in the cross-border area between Italy and Slovenia were exhibited during its final conference on July 10. Aquaponics is a sustainable technique that allows to produce vegetables with a reduction of up to 90% of water consumption and through the recycling of waste products deriving from aquaculture practices.
