Crossit Safer: Training course for firefighters

News

On Friday, 31 July 2020, the project partner 9 (Municipality of Postojna) organized the second part of the training course for firefighters. The one-day training course was based on continuing last year's course on organising and managing fire service (incident command system - ICS) in case of large forest fires. We met at 8.00 at Gasilsko-reševalni center Postojna. This fire station was established 2 years ago and it represents one of the most modern and well-equipped centers of such kind in Slovenia. After a short greeting from the coordinator of the Crossit safer of Postojna, Maja Piškur and the representative of the Postojna volunteer firefighter society (PGD Postojna), Darko Muhič, we began the course. Darko Muhič, Boštjan Triler and Klemen Grilj were the main speakers of the morning courses on the topic of interventions in case of large wild fires. The workshop lasted until approximately 12 o’clock and was followed by a well-deserved lunch. After that the attendees of the training course went to the field, precisely to an area called Poček. The exercise called »LIPE 20« was a simulation of an ultralight plane accident that occurred in nature and which resulted also in a large wild fire. Two rotations were carried out, the participants provided an analysis of the situation, of the needs and priorities, they provided help in the search, rescuing and also with the first aid to the injured. In the exercise, also a drone and a major firefighter truck were activated.
