Crossit Safer: Exercise 'Earthquake Ajdovščina 2020'

News

On 18 September 2020 an exercise of civil protection units on the subject of earthquake was held by PP2 (Občina Ajdovščina) on the ruins of building №. 3 - Ajdovščina's former elementary school.

On the ruins of former building n. 3 of Ajdovščina's elementary school Danilo Lokar that had allegedly been shaken by a medium strong earthquake, several civil protection units met and began searching for injured people. Rescue dog handlers from Slovenia and Italy were the main stars of the exercise, while other civil protection units who were at the time busy putting off a huge forest fire near the agglomeration of Dolga Poljana joined them later.

The rescuing of the injured began at midday and lasted until late evening.

A press conference took place before the exercise with its primary goal being informing the press on the activities of the project and on the exercise itself.

To enhance the dissemination of the project, a promotional video regarding the collaboration of Slovene and Italian civil protection units was shot at the exercise.

Unfortunately, due to restrictions regarding the covid19 situation and the growing number of cases in Slovenia, it was not possible to make the exercise public and to host it in the way we had initially wanted.
