CATTEDRA - Experiment: Recombinant protein production in insect cells

News

COBIK lab, Ajdovščina, Slovenia

We designed and developed a protein biosensor that is able to detect inflammation in patient blood cells. The activated biosensor components emit fluorescence, which can be measured by specialized reader devices. At COBIK, we are able to produce and purify this engineered biosensor from insect cell culture. By using recombinant DNA technology, these cells are able to express any protein we like - including the biosensor components! Have a look at how the cell culture is grown in shaker incubator at constant 27 °C.
