2022 ANNUAL EVENT - GREEN PERSPECTIVES FOR INTERREG ITALY-SLOVENIA

News

On May 31st, at Ca' Corniani in Caorle (VE), the annual event of the Interreg V-A Italy-Slovenia 2014-2020 Cooperation Programme entitled "Green Perspectives for Interreg Italy-Slovenia" took place. The event was co-organised by the Unitary Programming Directorate for Territorial Cooperation and European Macro-Strategies of the Veneto Region and the Managing Authority/Joint Secretariat of the Programme. The initiative was part of the European Commission's EU Green Week and the TerrEvolute Festival della Bonifica.

The event began with greetings from the authorities. In particular, the video message of the representative of the European Commission's Directorate General for Regional and Urban Policy Anna Modzelewska highlighted the good progress in the implementation of the 2014-2020 programme: "Flexibility offered to the project beneficiaries by the programme authorities, for example consisting of prolongation of implementation time evidently minimized the impact of COVID-19 on delivery of programme results. It enables the projects to provide the expected outcomes on time and without compromises on their quality." Full speech at this link.

Good practices of "green" cooperation between Italy and Slovenia were then presented through the presentation of the objectives and results achieved by four projects co-financed by the Programme: DURASOFT, MOBITOUR, BEE-DIVERSITY and VISFRIM. The action of all these four projects was also implemented in the Caorle area.

In particular, the DURASOFT project presented, through samples of benches placed in strategic points of the Programme area, the life cycle of the wood used. The MOBITOUR project proposed solutions for sustainable mobility in cross-border tourist areas. The VISFRIM project highlighted how the hydraulic risk concerning the Vipacco and Lemene basins can be measured by means of a non-structural indicator, i.e. the citizens' observatory. Finally, BEE-DIVERSITY drew attention to the importance of biodiversity protection, specifically presenting innovative tools that enable effective monitoring of beehive trends.

In the afternoon, a guided tour was organised at Veneto Agricoltura's Vallevecchia farm, located in the Caorle lagoon. Participants were able to see the progress of the BEE-DIVERSITY project live, both in terms of the electronic monitoring of beehives and a live demonstration of how precision agriculture is carried out.

During the event, the spotlight was also placed on the European Year of Youth and the various ways in which young people are actively involved in European territorial cooperation. Finally, participants were able to view and appreciate a photo exhibition containing 28 photos from 13 projects co-funded by the Programme. The exhibition can also be viewed virtually at this link.

Please find attached the agenda of the event, the presentations of each speaker and some photos of the event.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the authorities, speakers, guests and participants for a successful event.
