As part of the MobiTour project, the Lipica Stud Farm acquired 15 electric bicycles and two e-vehicles, and in the coming months will set up four charging stations for electric vehicles at the central parking area in Lipica.
In this way, visitors to the Lipica Stud Farm can experience the green estate of Lipica during a pleasant relaxed walk, a carriage ride or while riding an electric bike.
Since this summer, 15 electric bikes have been available for free rental. They can be rented at the entry point of the stud farm or at the reception of the Hotel Maestoso. With an electric bike, visitors can reach the herd of white Lipizzan horses, the green ambience of tree-avenues and the hidden corners of the Lipica estate.
This was precisely what happened on Saturday, October 20, for participants in the e-orientationtour with electric bicycles and a CO2-free experience of the most beautiful tree avenues of Lipica. The electric bike tour took the participants to five points of interest in the Lipica estate: the ice-pond, the Marmont Avenue, the hippodromeand the Trieste and Vienna avenues. The electric bike tour was accompanied by a presentation of the MobiTour project and the importance of sustainable mobility for the Lipica Stud Farm, one of the most popular Slovenian tourist destinations.
The electric bikes of the MobiTour project are available for tours of the Lipica property, as well as for tours of the Karst region, since the Stud farm, one of the main tourist destinations of the Karst, promotes sustainable mobility. Besides, it contributes to the connections between tourist destinations and project partners, and the promotion of other tourist attractions of the Karst. It takes only a short ride with an electric bike to visit Lokev, the Škocjan Caves Park, the Glinščica valley and the Karst Living Museum.
MobiTour - Sustainable Mobility of the Tourist Destinations in the Coastal Areas and Hinterland of the Cross-Border Region
The free rental of electric bikes has been facilitated by the MobiTour cross-border project, which connects six partners from Slovenia and Italy: the Lipica Stud Farm, the Piran Municipality, the Institute of International Sociology in Gorizia, the Italian municipalities of Lignano Sabbiadoro and Caorle and the Škocjan Caves Park. The value of the entire project is 1.2 million euros, 85% of the funds will be provided by the European Regional Development Fund under the Interreg V-A Italy Slovenia Programme 2014-2020.
