Nanocenter hosted a group of 17 physics students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the University of Ljubljana on 07. March 2022.
The programme of the visit was organised as a combination of a lecture, a visit to the laboratories and a case study.
The students already had a background in nanotechnology, so the choice was made to introduce the world of nanotechnology through very concrete multidisciplinary challenges with animations and videos of some of the technologies and devices used. Among other things, they were introduced to the state-of-the-art in nanoscale scanning tunnelling microscopy and manufacturing processes for the production of nano-devices.
This was followed by a tour of the laboratories, where the students learned about state-of-the-art equipment in nanotechnology, the environment in which researchers work and the career opportunities involved in nanotechnology. They were introduced to concrete studies and examples of nanotechnology-based collaborations between laboratories and companies.
By presenting concrete examples, we were able to bring the students closer to the specific topics and invite them to become more actively involved in practice through Seminars and Diplomas that they can carry out with the Nanocentre's equipment.
The visit lasted 60 minutes.
