On Friday, November 8, 2019, the traditional Symposium on Teran and Karst products was held in Štanjel (Slovenija). It was attended by Slovene and Italian researchers from the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia, universities of Trieste, Udine, Nova Gorica and members of the Association of Teran Producers from Karst.
The purpose of project activities is to improve the quality of Karst products. Project partners are striving to improve the quality of Teran and to establish a Slovenian-Italian consortium of Karst winegrowers with uniform rules for the production of Teran. Latest findings indicate the need to optimize the use of water in vineyards and controlling pests with environmentally friendly methods, which in turn means a larger and better yields. At the same time, they intend to produce a higher quality of Karst dry-ham »kraški pršut« with a geographical indication of origin.
