On Saturday, September the 25th, this year's INCASTRA - Day of Industry and Entrepreneurship Ajdovščina, organized every year by the People's University of Ajdovščina, was held. In previous years, the event was organized as an open day for companies from the Ajdovščina area which write success stories in their field, both at home and abroad. They were visited by primary and secondary school students, and Saturday's event was always intended for general public. This year, the companies opened their doors virtually with virtual walks and production presentations.
The University of Nova Gorica, one of the partners of the NANO-REGION project, financed from the Interreg V-A Italy-Slovenia 2014-2020 program, participated with a stand at the event. Employees of the Laboratory for Materials Research and the Laboratory for Organic Physics of UNG presented various physical experiments on the stand, including those using either materials or methods in the field of nanotechnology, such as a practical test of glass cutting with and without coating - protective thin film based on titanium nanomaterial with surface functional molecules (developed in the laboratories of our university), display images from their electron microscopes (SEM, TEM). They also addressed very significant environmental topics with a display of a modified device - an electronic weather station, which is powered solely by solar cells and will be used to test performance at different levels of radiation, which serves to justify the key role of energy storage in the transition to renewable energy.
The NANO-REGION project was also presented with a poster at the stand.
