Kick-off meeting of PRIMIS Strategic Project

Events

On March 28th, in Venice, at the Grandi Stazioni palace of the Veneto Region, took place the kick-off meeting of PRIMIS "Multicultural journey between Italy and Slovenia through the prism of minorities". The partners held an operational discussion that allowed to outline a general framework on the next project targets and activities and also organized a press conference to officially present the project.

The 36 months long project is funded with €2.8 million of EU funds under the Interreg Italy-Slovenia programme and involves the most significant linguistic minorities in the Upper Adriatic area: an area populated by nearly 8 million residents, by its very nature a multicultural and multilingual area due to the presence of Slovenian national minority in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italian minority in Slovenia and other linguistic communities (such as the Cimbri, the Ladins and the Friulians in Veneto). All these linguistic communities make the area unique compared to other territories.

PRIMIS Project aims to enhance the linguistic, cultural and natural heritage of the linguistic communities of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto and Slovenia in order to increase the demand for sustainable tourism. The goal is to transfer the material and immaterial, multicultural and multilinguistic peculiarities of the local communities into touristic activities and  the promotion of the cross-border area as an added value for economic activities, cultural and sustainable tourism. All with the use of innovative, interactive and multimedial tools with immersive and virtual reality (multimedia centers, info points). This will be supported by different actions to enhance and promote cultural events, information and training activities especially aimed at young people.

The large partnership led by the Italian Union of Koper/Capodistria consists of: Ats PROJEKT, Veneto Region - International Relations, Communication and SISTAR - International Cooperation Organizational Unit, CAN - Self-managed coastal italian community of Koper/Capodistria, Friuli Venezia Giulia Autonomous Region – Department for culture and sports, Regional Economic Slovenian Union of Trieste (SDGZ-URES), RRA Regional Development Agency Green Karst of Pivka, Chamber of Tourism and Hospitality of Slovenia (TGZS), Center for Cross-border studies of Comelico and Sappada, VEGAL - GAL Eastern Veneto.
