ENGREEN - Summer school on the topic of green infrastructure in the Škocjan Caves Park

Events

The Department of Biodiversity, University of Koper, in cooperation with the Škocjan Caves Park, will hold a summer school for students, which will take place between 14 and 18 September 2020. The summer school will be organized as part of the project "ENGREEN - "Strengthening of green infrastructures in IT-SI cross-border environment".

The activities will take place in the area of the Škocjan Caves Park.

Planned program:

Monday 14/9/2020
- an introduction to project activities
- guided cycling tour with electric bicycles
- evening lecture: dry stone walls, Mrs Daša Čok

Tuesday 15/9/2020
- fieldwork:
            - checking the condition and inventory of pond species in the area of the Škocjan  Cave Park
            - checking the condition and inventory of dry stone walls / grasslands in the area of the Škocjan Cave Park
- evening lecture: Karst ponds - small wetlands of great importance, doc. dr. Martina Lužnik

Wednesday 16/9/2020
- fieldwork:
            - checking the condition and inventory of pond species in the area of the Škocjan Cave Park
            - checking the condition and inventory of dry stone walls / grasslands in the area of the Škocjan Cave Park
            -catching goldfish from the pond
- evening lecture: Non-native and invasive species, doc. dr. Vladimir Ivović / dr. Katja   Kalan

Thursday 17/9/2020
- fieldwork: checking the condition and inventory of pond species in the area of the Škocjan Cave Park
- laboratory work: identification of aquatic invertebrates from samples
- evening lecture: The importance of sustainable and responsible behavior in nature conservation areas, Mr. Tomaž Zorman

Friday 18/9/2020
- guided tour of the Škocjan Caves and conclusion of the event

To participate in the summer school it is neccesarly to register in advance, participation is free of charge. We can accept 15 applicants. Accommodation will be provided. The evening lectures will also be open to the general public. For additional information you can write to the e-mail address:
