ENGREEN - Summer school for students in the Slovenian Karst from 17 to 20 June 2021

The Department of Biodiversity of the University of Primorska from Koper-Capodistria, Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies will hold a summer school for students on the diversity of green infrastructure in the Slovenian Karst, which will take place between 17 and 20 June 2021 (starting in Mirno). The summer school is organized as part of the project ENGREEN - Strengthening green infrastructure in the cross-border cultural landscape Italy - Slovenia. During the camp, the participants will be informed in detail about the state of the existing green infrastructure in the area of ​​the Slovenian Karst with the help of a presentation of project activities and an evening lecture. Through fieldwork, we will learn about the biodiversity of ponds and karst grasslands. We will get acquainted with the methodology of monitoring the condition of selected species of butterflies and amphibians. We will participate in the monitoring of the population of the endangered marsh warbler (Coenonympha oedippus). We will also take care of the inventory of invasive species in the area of ​​the distribution of the Coenonympha oedippus. Field work will be followed by editing the collected data with a discussion, and evening gatherings of all participants.
