On December 9th, 2021, the Annual Event of the Interreg Italy-Slovenia Cooperation Programme 2014-2020 was organised by the Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy.
For the fourth year in a row, the Annual Programme Event was hosted by the Slovenian info point, which is placed in the Regional office in Štanjel.
As in last year, also this year's event was held in virtual form, with almost 60 participants present.
The participants were addressed by Zvone Černač, minister of Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, who stressed the importance of cross-border integration. Then followed an address by Helena Jaklitch, Minister of the Government Office for Slovenians Abroad and an address by Barbara Zilli, Finance Minister of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The participants were also greeted by Tanja Rener, head of the European Territorial Cooperation and Financial Mechanisms Sector, and by Laura Comelli, head of the Managing Authority.
The aim of the event was to present the long-standing successful participation of national minorities in the cross-border programme. Therefore, the examples of good cross-border cooperation practices from the 2007-2013 programming period and projects implemented during this programming period have been highlighted.
In a round table conversation, representatives of minority organisations highlighted the role of language as a connecting asset in a cross-border area. The results of the LANGUAGE, PRIMIS, EDUKA, EDUKA2, TRANSARMON and TARTINI projects were presented. The participants of the round table agreed that they still face the challenges for the coming cross-border cooperation programming period.
At the end of the event, the winners of the concluded photographic competition "FROM THE ALPS TO THE ADRIATIC: THE CROSSROADS OF BIODIVERSITY AND CULTURES" were also announced.
