Yesterday, the Primorski Tehnološki Park invited students from the Šolski center and from the Fran Erjavec Nova Gorica Primary School to an event on NANO-sciences at XCenter in Nova Gorica.
Together with the University of Nova Gorica and the Nanocentre, all partners of the NANO-REGION project, funded by the Interreg V-A Italy-Slovenia 2014-2020 programme, they presented a programme aimed at the knowledge and promotion of nanotechnologies and the various possibilities for studying science and technology.
The primary and high school students who attended the event learned why a water lily leaf can be hydrophobic, what scientists are working on in the lab, that graphene is a form of carbon, and what a fly's head looks like in a nanoscale photograph. The event was rounded off by a talk with Teja Bajt, founder of a company that makes "Innobox" boxes for all kinds of experiments, and a presentation of "POPRI" - a competition for young people's entrepreneurial ideas.
