The partners of the WALKofPEACE project attended the 8th PPs meeting organized by the partner of the Vegal on Thursday, October 7, 2021. Meeting took place in Cavallino-Treporti near Venice. The joint transport for Slovenian partners was organized by Ustanova "Fundacija Poti miru v Posočju".
After arriving at the Batteria Vettor Pisani fort, the attendees first had a guided tour of the fort with a new interactive exhibition “Children on the battle line and enemies in their houses”. They were received and welcomed by Andrea Pio Di Leo, a representative of Gal Venezia Orientale. In addition to the mentioned exhibition, Vegal also presented a new promotional booklet about the fort; both were created through project funding.
The meeting was chaired by Vesna Kozar, a representative of the Lead Partner, the Posoško Development Center, and Maša Klavora, a representative of Ustanova "Fundacija Poti miru v Posočju", who constantly coordinates the content of the project with an emphasis on cross-border activities. The main part of the meeting was intended for each project partner to present the activities and investments that have been realized so far through the project, activities that are currently underway and of course those that it intends to carry out until the end of the project, in April 2022. Each of the partners also presented the financial scheme of the funds used so far.
The Lead Partner encouraged the project partner to use the funds as optimally as possible according to the project plan until the end of the project, whereby he will collect proposals for the redistribution of funds between individual activities and possibly also between project partners. The administrative activities and obligations of the partners regarding the final report were also presented.
After the official part of the meeting, the hosts invited all participants to lunch, followed by a very interesting guided bike tour of the Via dei Forti. In this area, they visited the exteriors of several forts and other buildings that played an important role in the First World War, including Batterio Amalfi.
After the guided cycling tour, the participants went to San Dona di Piave, where they visited the renovated MUB Museum, Museo della Bonifica. Funds for the renovation were also obtained through the WALKofPEACE project. Sara Campaner, Director of MUB, presented the museum and impressed everyone present with her outspoken affiliation and fondness for the idea of the Walk of Peace. Prior to the official opening of the museum, a new smartphone app was presented to the partners, which they also developed with the help of the project.
