GeoKarst: GEO-CYCLING ON THE CLASSICAL KARST

As part of the IX edition of the "Settimana del Pianeta Terra - L'Italia alla scoperta delle Geoscienze", a scientific festival that involves the whole of Italy (https://www.settimanaterra.org/) from 3 to 10 October, the Servizio Geologico of the Regione Autonoma FVG with the collaboration of Estplore Natura Divulgazione (www.estplore.it), organizes a weekend of geo-rides to discover the geological heritage and geosites of the Classical Karst.

Three days of guided pedal excursions on tourist level are co-financed within the GeoKarst project (https://www.ita-slo.eu/it/geokarst) supported by the Interreg V-A Italy-Slovenia Cooperation Program from the Fund European Regional Development and they are free for the public.

• Saturday 9 October: the full day excursion is crossborder and organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Sezana (Lead partner of the GeoKarst project) and the Bike Slovenia guides in the area between Basovizza / Bazovica, Val Rosandra / Dolina Glinščica, Lipizza / Lipica and Sezana / Sežana;
• Sunday 10 October: the halfday geo-pedaling in the Prosecco / Prosek and Santa Croce / Križ area will allow you to observe the Barcolana sails show from the Karst - the largest regatta in the world;
• Sunday 17 October: the halfday excursion will take place on the territory between Santa Croce / Križ and Aurisina / Nabrežina and on the magnificent geosites present.
