In spite of the coronavirus epidemic which shook our world and will have severe repercussions on the tourism sector, and on our entire economic system, the workers in the tourism and hospitality industry are not giving up. The attention is now focused on the domestic guest who, thanks also to a voucher scheme supported by government funds, will be able to spend his entire holiday not just a weekend or a few days in Slovenia. The rock-solid conviction that the country we call home is also the one we know least of all, will finally be tested since Slovenians will be able to enjoy their holidays without crossing borders.
Tourist service providers are trying to save the tourist season in different ways, according to the needs of the local environment and the type of services they provide. By way of example, Economic Interest Group of rafters on the Soča river has suggested that the agencies offering rafting experience pay smaller fee this summer.
The cooperation of different service providers has become even more important than before. Various joint programs of different providers are a proof that it is not just highflying words which all too often end in solo actions with scarce results. This summer you will have the chance to purchase a single ticket to visit 11 museums and art galleries in Ljubljana, for example.
This summer season will be special also for some regional or local programs, which have been designed in the past and have so far attracted primarily foreign visitors. The Pivka Tourist Board opened the summer season with a broad selection of activities for all types of visitors. The program »Explore with us«, presented last year to local residents and visitors for the first time, has gained momentum this year around. The program proposes many summer activities in Pivka and its surroundings and is carried out with participation of the Park of Military History and the Ecomuseum of the Seasonal Lakes of Pivka, in cooperation with fruit farm Biščak, Suhorje village, House of Culture in Pivka, Volk family farm… Besides regular activities scheduled for July and August, visitors will enjoy some special events: learning about the culinary offer of Pivka Valley; guided tour through Pivka; open days at Sedmak organic farm; night bird watching around Pivka lakes; camper meeting in the Park of Military History; nature survival skills for children; night hike to sv. Trojica at full moon and many others. Among special adventures in the green Karst there are many bicycle and hiking tours and bear watching in his natural habitat.
Maybe now is actually a good time to spend holidays in a close by destination which is safe and guaranteed to help visitors relax in unspoilt nature. It is time to visit Slovenia. Summer in Pivka and its surrounding is only one of the many options.
