EUROPEAN COOPERATION DAY AT THE ŠKOCJAN CAVES REGIONAL PARK

More than 250 people attended the cross- border event, organised by the Managing Authority and the Joint Secreteriat, in collaboration with the Slovenian Info Point, at the park of Škojcan Caves (Matavun) on September 21 st, in order to celebrate the European Cooperation Day.

The aim of the event was to promote and spread the benefits and values of european cooperation by presenting the results achieved. The day began with the presentation of the Interreg Programme V-A Italia – Slovenia 2014-2020, by the Joint Secretariat. Later, the park of the Škocjan Caves presented the activities offered, which were expended and strengthened thanks also to the support of European funds. Particular attention has been given to the Mobitour Project, funded by the Programme, which aims at a sustainable mobility of cross-border coastal and hinterland tourist areas. The morning session ended with the 3 finalist videos showing, within the amateur video contest “Why Europe is you ?” and the announcement of the winning video, chosen by the public.

In the afternoon, participants took part in various recreational activities, organised to involve families, young people and children. On the occasion of European Cooperation Day, the Park offered to participants two free caves visits and a bike tour in the Caves Regional Park, with electric bikes provided by the Mobitour Project. Moreover, a creative workshop was held for children as well as some stands, where local products were exposed and a photo corner, in which people could receive an instant photo as a memory of the day.

Great space was given to participants, who were also actively involved in an exhibition of interactive panels on the concept of cooperation.
