On May 29, 2019, in cooperation with the Municipality of Gorizia, the City of Nova Gorica and the Municipality of Šempeter-Vrtojba, EGTC GO organized a workshop on the topic of the elderly and disability aimed at non-governmental organizations caring for vulnerable population groups. The workshop, whose primary objective was to establish a cross-border network of social contractors, gave rise to several cooperation initiatives, such as:
- Unitri - University for the Third Age from Nova Gorica and University for the Third Age from Gorizia have proposed joint organization of different courses (language, etc.);
- The Go-memorial, the Regional Society for Dementia Assistance for the Northern Littoral and the Center Alzheimer Mitteleuropea (Central European Alzheimer's Center) would like to jointly organize cross-border gatherings to encourage individual activity (singing, etc.);
- The Nova Gorica Retirement Home and the Municipality of Gorica will examine the possibilities of using services within the Retirement Home for Italian citizens (accommodation, day care centers);
- the Nova Gorica Welfare Center and the Federazione italiana per il superamento dell'handicap (Italian Association for Overcoming Disability) will design programs for the handicapped youth;
- and many others.
The event was held at the premises of Centro Sociale Polivalente in 22 Baiamonti Street, where the Salute-Zdravstvo project will set up an information office for cross-border social services.
