News

During this year's cycling season, two free bus connections for cyclists will be operational at weekends between Slovenian Istria, Karst and Grado. The KoloBus (bus equipped with bike trailer) started operations between Koper and Karst on 19th May 2019, while another, cross-border bus, between Koper and Grado, will start June 8th 2019.

Free journeys around Karst

The first circular bus connection between the Slovenian Istra and the Karst region within the framework of the Medcycletour project began on Sunday, 19th May 2019. The KoloBus will be used on the circular route Koper - Kozina - Škocjan Caves - Divača - Štanjel - Sežana - Lipica - Kozina - Koper every weekend until 22nd September 2019. Departure will be from the main Koper bus station three times a day, at 8am, 1pm and 6pm. No advance reservation is required.

Free KoloBus between Koper and Grado

This is the second season for the cross-border KoloBus between Koper and Grado as part of the Inter Bike II project this year. On Sundays, KoloBus will leave Koper (8:30am departure from the main bus station) and go to Grado and back (5:30pm departure from the main Grado bus station). Reservations are recommended.

Reservations can be made in June, on: +39 334 6000121 or by e-mail: booking@comune.monfalcone.go.it. In August, September and October, please call: +386 40 470 644 or by e-mail: info@activekoper.si. This free service will come to life within the framework of two European projects Medcycletour and Inter Bike II from the Interreg Mediterranean programs and the Interreg V-A Cooperation Program Italy-Slovenia 2014-2020. Both free services are co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. Project partners The Koper Regional Development Centre, the Municipality of Koper and the Italian Municipality of Tržič have opted for the pilot introduction of specialised bus lines due to the increasing popularity of cycling tourism and the promotion of our region as an interesting cycling tourist destination.
